Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Conda Technology collects, uses, shares and protects personal information across our website and our mobile applications.
Last updated: 27 June 2026
1. Who we are
Conda Technology ("Conda Technology", "we", "us", "our") is a software company registered in South Africa with its registered office at 206 Beyers Naude Drive, Risidale, Gauteng, 2195, South Africa. We are the data controller for personal information processed through our website (https://condatechnology.co.za) and through the mobile applications we publish under our own developer accounts.
Where we build software on behalf of a school, tutor, publisher or other organisation, that organisation is the data controller for the personal information processed in their product, and we act as their data processor under a separate written agreement. This policy then describes our own practices, not theirs.
For any privacy question or request, contact: info@condatechnology.co.za.
2. Information we collect
From our website
- Information you submit through the contact form (your name, email address and the contents of your message).
- Basic technical information from your browser (IP address, user-agent, referrer) and aggregate usage data.
From our apps
- Account information you provide directly (such as a display name or email address) where the app supports user accounts.
- App-functional data you create while using the app (such as study progress, lesson notes or learner activity), stored to make the app work.
- Crash and diagnostic data we receive from Google Play and crash-reporting tools we use to keep the app stable.
- An opaque per-install identifier so the app can function across sessions on your device.
We do not collect Android Advertising ID (AAID), IMEI, IMSI, MAC address, SIM serial, SSID or BSSID from users of our child-directed apps.
3. How we use information
- To provide, operate and maintain our website and our apps.
- To respond to enquiries you send us.
- To detect, prevent and fix problems and security incidents.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information. We do not serve behavioural or interest-based advertising to children in any of our products.
4. Legal bases (UK/EU users)
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: contract (to provide the app or service you've requested), legitimate interests (to operate, secure and improve our products), consent (where we ask for it explicitly, such as parental consent for child users) and legal obligation (where we have to keep certain records).
5. Sharing your information
We share personal information only with the service providers we need to run our business. Typical categories include:
- Cloud hosting and database providers that store data on our behalf.
- Crash and error reporting tools that help us fix bugs.
- Email service providers we use to reply to you.
- Google Play and Apple App Store, where applicable, for app distribution and payments.
- Professional advisers (lawyers, accountants, auditors) where strictly necessary.
We require these providers to handle personal information under appropriate contracts and to a standard at least equivalent to our own. We do not share personal information with advertising networks for cross-service tracking, and we never share children's personal information with anyone for marketing or advertising purposes.
6. International transfers
Some of the service providers we use are based outside South Africa. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we rely on adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or the equivalent protections required by POPIA, the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR.
7. Children's privacy
A meaningful share of our work reaches children. Where an app from Conda Technology is directed at children, or where we knowingly collect personal information from a user under 13 (or the equivalent age of digital consent in their country):
- We do not show behavioural advertising, interest-based advertising or remarketing to children. Where we serve advertising at all in child-directed contexts, we use only Google Play Families self-certified ad partners and contextual ads.
- We do not transmit Android Advertising ID (AAID), IMEI, IMSI, MAC address, SIM serial, SSID or BSSID from child users.
- We do not collect precise location data from child users.
- Where parental consent is legally required (for example under COPPA in the United States or GDPR Article 8 in the European Union), we obtain it before collecting personal information from a child, or rely on verifiable school consent where the app is used in an educational setting.
- Social and content-exchange features in our child-directed apps are gated behind clear adult-action mechanisms.
Parents, guardians and schools can review, correct or delete a child's personal information at any time by emailing info@condatechnology.co.za or visiting our Account & Data Deletion page. We may need to verify your relationship to the child before acting on the request.
8. Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or for as long as we are legally required to. Account information is kept while the account is active and deleted within 30 days of an account-deletion request. Contact-form enquiries are kept for up to 24 months. App diagnostic and crash data is kept for up to 12 months.
9. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest where supported by our infrastructure providers, role-based access control, and regular review of our systems and dependencies.
10. Your rights
Depending on your country, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Request deletion of your personal information.
- Object to or restrict certain types of processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@condatechnology.co.za. If you are in South Africa, you also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa). If you are in the United Kingdom, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). If you are in the European Union, you may complain to your national supervisory authority.
11. Cookies and analytics
Our website uses only the cookies strictly necessary for the site to function. If we add any optional analytics or performance cookies in future, we will ask for your consent first.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
